Awesome work ! What software do you use to make your director treatment
I made them on Keynote. I made a full video on my page along with a few treatment templates available
The rollercoaster shot is a vibe. Great vid
Thank you
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Any tips or resource for learning to use multiple music in one video?
when things feel stagnant switch it up!
You are an inspiration
✌🏻
Thanks very much. Very helpful.
Glad you found it useful ✌🏻
You really, really had to know your shit when shooting film and tungsten to make it look good from on set through developing and printing. That’s why so many DP’s didn’t start getting serious jobs till after twenty plus years learning the craft. It’s good people are getting interested in film and older technology, if you learn the craft it will only help no mater what you use.
Amen!
I actually used a 16mm Bolex camera similar that in the early 1970s to film a few weddings. It had a rotating turret with three different focal length lenses. The show stopper was the slow film speeds which required bright lights which in one instance blew the circuit breaker in hotel ballroom in the middle of the bride walking down the aisle. Options for editing were also limited and crude, cutting with a razor and connecting with adhesive splices.
Wow that sounds hectic
I've used tip #1 fo so long now and it's just incredibly efficient.. But, i noticed you have tabs of Timelines on your edit page. How do i get that?! those seem incredibly useful
It's called display stacked timelines - it's the button right above timecode
Tip 1 is pretty much the Source Tape
True!
r u using nd filters too?
Nope
well ill be
nice video but your glasses arent sitting correctly on your nose and since I saw it I couldn't unsee it THE IMPERFECTION HAUNTS ME
lol, I got them fixed
man theres just something special about proper film.
Agreed!
@@MattAitia genuinely wish I had more opportunities to work with the stuff, been lucky to a handful of times for projects but no where near as much as I'd like 😂. Cutting a project together becomes very literal.
Love these tips buddy! I'm going to think on using the breaks tip in my vids going forward. Keep it up!
Thank you brother!
Golden tips my friend! Golden tips!
Thanks Gustavo!
Great tips Matt! Looking forward to future content!
Thanks Brian!
Nice tips Matt!
Thanks Will ✌🏻
Я думаю это топ контент
Спасибо!
super cool shots!
Thank you!
all of these shots are awesome
thank you!
I wonder how analog film is converted to digital for UA-cam. Please someone explain to me
Similar to how 35mm still photographs are scanned. The film is developed and each frame is scanned to create a 24fps motion picture
Great video Matt!! I discovered the song from the MV a while back and this landed on my feed just now. Thank you for the BTS 🙌 very inspiring P.S: What's the song you played in the outro? Really good stuff!
It was from Audiio! I can't remember haha
Midwestcofilmcompany for development and processing you welcome
👌
The images you took with the camera were incredible! I did a 16mm workshop with a Bolex last year. We filmed in black & white after the theoretical part. It was very interesting. I posted the result on my channel. Your video is very good!
Thank you!
Loved that shot of you skating, straight out of an early habitat video or 00’s trans world montage.
Haha thanks Ryan!
This is such a great video Matt - I loved it - always wanted to shoot film and watching this kinda gives me the confidence to give it a go.
p.s. would love a more in depth vid!
Thanks Ed - I think you would love the process
Thanks for the breakdown. Incredibly helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
I feel like it is capturing life! Thank you
Great work ! why the format is 4:3 and not 16:9 ? is it super 16 film stock or just regular 16mm?
It’s regular 16
@@MattAitia okay thank you , where can i find super 16 film stock
@@kristicifci5389 The film is the same for regular 16 and super 16. It is the camera that has to have the larger gate for super 16. With a regular 16 camera you still could crop the image to 16:9 if you framed accordingly. A good scan would give you that quality to zoom in. The framing in this beautiful video is very well done for 4:3 and would not be great to crop.
great frames dude !
Thank you!
Great video. I just get started to shoot 16mm film on a bolex , it’s a lot of fun. Love your footage 👍🏻
Hell yeah!
Это что то крутое ребята
Спасибо!
Please whats the name of the song on “sunny 16” part of the video
It’s called Forrest by Jack Bradley Vaught on Audiio
The footage looks great! I'm always surprised by the dynamic range of motion picture film. Would love to see your workflow for grading film footage!
The DR and highlight roll off is truly unbeatable
so nice!! thank you so much for this video, among all the ' how to shoot 16mm ' on yt I found this to be the most interesting, especially for you sharing your exposure work, very very instructive!
Glad you found it useful!
duuuuude. i still have some 16 in my fridge lol. soon as i take a break from animation learning i'm on it!! thanks !! keep creating and inspiring!!
Hell yeah!
I’m surprised you didn’t get your film all scratched. When you put the take up spool the second time you actually put the film behind the lever to pop up the spools. But i’m sure you noticed that while you were editing this video, sorry for being that annoying guy who had to tell you hahah
Me too honestly. When I did load it I remember it didn’t feel right and hearing a scratching sound. Thankfully the footage was fine
@@MattAitiadude I can’t believe it didn’t cause any issues or jamming!
